Skate America 2006

.John Kerr, Maxim Staviski, Albena Denkova, Sinead Kerr

Just got back from Skate America which took place in Hartford, CT. I had to judge both the Men's event and the Ladies event. It's obvious that we are still very early in the season cause nobody skated at their best which is normal, they all want to be at their very best at Europeans and Worlds next year. In the city of Hartford wasn't much to do/to see so I was lucky to be drawn on two events cause otherwise....... it would have been boring (during the day that is)! After the competitions we had a great time cause most of my friends in skating were present in Hartford! People like; Karen Archer, Taffy Holliday, Steve Winkler, Cynthia Benson and many more. My two Referees were Benoit Lavoie for the Men's event and Robbie Rosenbluth for the Ladies event. Both of them are very good friends of mine and both of them are as crazy as can be! Benoit is Canadian and lives in Quebec while Robbie lives in New-York City and is the prototype of what we Europeans call "a crazy American"! LOL With these two guys present you can be sure that you will have a blast!!! It was also great to see two of my favorite "Ice Dance" couple's participating in Hartford. Sinead & John Kerr from Great Britain and Albena Denkova & Maxim Staviski from Bulgaria. Albena & Maxim won the competition and are also the present "World Champions" while Sinead & John had a bad skate which placed them only 5th overall while they could have made it to the podium easily. There are links to both couples' website's on the right hand site of this page so don't forget to check them out!
