Sofie & SoFour

.
Sofie is a prominent member in the world of Belgian Showbiz. Her musical heritage, married with her love for pop, rock, R&B and jazz, combined to form her highly personal, distinctive vocal style. The Antwerp born singer first hit the stage at the age of 14 . A few years later, she won the first prize and the press prize in a national TV contest "Ontdek De Ster" (Discover A Star). As a result of this contest she started to work with Belgium's number one pop band "The Pebbles". Together they formed a band called Trinity, which was signed by Phonogram. This collaboration resulted in 8 hit singles and 2 albums in the Benelux. In 1981 Sofie, after deciding to go solo, represented Belgium at the Korean Song festival where she received the "Most Outstanding Performance Award" with a song called "He loves me". In the same year she signed a contract with Ariola Belgium, which resulted in a big hit with one of the most beautiful ballads ever to come out of Belgium: 'I love you'. The song was also a big success in Japan, Korea & Thailand. With her album "When Morning Comes", Sofie confirms her exceptional status as a jazz singer. The album was produced by her jazz mate and jazz pianist Jack Van Poll who also worked with Dee Dee Bridgewater, Deborah Brown and others. Jazz guitarist Phillip Catherine did a guest appearance on this album. A few years later on the occasion of Jack's 65Th birthday, Sofie participated on the album "Live in Cape Town", a remarkable concert with The Cape Town String Ensemble among international artists like Stacy Rowles, Silvia Droste, Denise Jannah. With the album "So Far, So Good" (CNR), Sofie proved to be able to cope with different styles and bring pop, jazz, funk & soul on an international level. In 1995 Sofie did a remarkable duet with soul legend Bobby Wommack: "I wanna Know What Love Is", to be found the album “Love Loops”. The track "Always Be There" (from the same album, written by Sofie herself & by producer Hervé Martens), is still used as a tune for a TV serie in Japan. In 1999 Sofie appeared in the successful rock-opera "Jesus Christ Superstar", with Soulsister singer Paul Michiels and the regretfully deceased Robert Mosuse. Her long expected album "Tell Me Something Good" (TTT Records) (featuring Toots Thielemans and Bobby Wommack) has just been released. Therefore she released two soul-disco singles as teasers: "The Finest" and "I Found Lovin'". Sofie is a true artist whose creativity knows no boundaries. With her splendid voice, she knows to bring every song in a sensitive and honest way, which gives her concerts a special class! I do have a lot of favorite songs by Sofie! In fact all of them! I just will name a few.
"Always be there", "We", "Love is never waiting", "I want to be", "The finest", "I found lovin' " and the jazzy tribute "Montreux"!

Song of today is "I found lovin' ":
