Los Angeles, CA
.
After my week in Maui I went to Los Angles, CA. this is my favorite city in the world! I do have a lot of friends there and I was invited to go see "Divas simply singing" which is a bennefit concert for woman living with Aids.
Sheryl Lee Ralph has done it again! Her 17th installment of DIVAS Simply Singing! will benefit the Black AIDS Institute and the AIDS Heathcare Foundation and promises to cast its spell of magic once again.
DIVAS Simply Singing is a unique, magical evening of song and entertainment now in it 17th consecutive year! This oft-praised and highly anticipated event features a host of the most talented women in show business uniting in a benefit concert to continue the courageous battle against HIV/AIDS.
Created and produced by actress/producer Sheryl Lee Ralph, the program serves as a “tribute to the countless number of friends and family taken by this disease” and also calls to mind those who are currently fighting its effects. It was 1990, soon after the death of one of her close friends, when Miss Ralph began conceptualizing DIVAS:
“When I realized just how many friends I had lost to this disease, I knew that I couldn’t sit by and watch them die; I had to do something,” she later recalled.
It was great witnessing the original Dreamgirls get together again for the first time since they closed the show on Broadway.

After the show who included Denise Williams, Natalie Cole, RuPaul, Norwood Young and of course Sheryl Lee Ralph I was invited as a geust at the after party. At this party I was introduced to Miss Sheryl Lee Ralph who had played the role of Deena Jones in the Broadway play "Dreamgirls". Garth, the guy who invited me and who took me to the after party introduced me and said that I was a huge Diana Ross fan. Sheryl looked at me and said.... are you sure you want to meet me? It seems that most Diana Ross fans don't like her at all because of this play!
That same night most of us went to Noorwood Young's house for a second after party. At this party I met movie-producer Dwayne Alexander. We talked about his upcoming movie (I can't say much about it but if you love Disco I'm sure you'll love it!) and had a great time. A couple of days later Dwayne and I had lunch to talk some business...
