20 YEARS OF STRESS
From time to time I will post some things that happened during my work. Some funny others not so funny at the time! On July 22nd 2006 I celebrated my 20th anniversary as a driving instructor. 20 years go fast when you look back. I have a lot of great memories and not so great memories... Every time I tell people about my job they always seem to be interested in what went wrong..... LOL. I can asure you that a lot can go wrong going from missing some turns, not stopping to give way for pedestrians to cross the street, giving priority to the left side instead of the right side (which is my side by the way---very important!!!). One of the most spectacular things happened only yesterday!!! I still can't believe it!!! We were driving in Hove when I suddenly see that 4 North African guys are arrested by the Police. I had this strange feeling so I said to my student that she had to slow down cause you never know what can happen... And something DID happen!!! We were about 200 meters away from where these guys were arrested when suddenly one decided to run away. One of the cops ran after him but he couldn't get him. When the police officer saw us he pulled us over jumped in the back of the car and told me to follow that guy!!! This guy took short cuts everywhere which I couldn't do with the car! Don't forget I was sitting on the right hand side of the car and that's not so easy to drive! This means that this guy got a little ahead of us every time. After about three minutes he ran into somebody's front yard and the cop told me to follow him!!! As soon As I drove into this yard the owner of the place just left his house!!! This poor guy didn't know what happened! The least I can say is that he was shocked to see a car from a driving school driving through his front yard and stoped there! He was angry with me which I can understand but as soon as he saw the Police he calmed down. By that time the guy got away over the bridge. (People who know this area it's the bridge between Kontich and Hove near the tennis court) After explaining to this poor man what happened the cop came back to tell us that he couldn't find this guy! Too bad but they still had the three others so they propably will tell this guy's name anyway...... My student said she really enjoyed it! I must say that it was great cause normally we have to stay with the speed limit etc... but now I was racing the streets! No need to tell you how people looked at us when we drove by so fast! LOL
